I had the honor of speaking this morning about servant leadership to the Northern Nevada chapter of FCCI. It’s a Christian faith-based organization of business leaders, but the message I had for them about servant leadership is the exact same one I share with MBA students every semester. I suggest a shift in terminology from servant to resourceful leadership. My goal for practicing this posture of leadership is to develop purposeful interdependence in the people you’ve been given the privilege to lead. We won’t all be given this privilege to lead, but we have all been given the responsibility to follow. Because we will lead the way we follow, the single best thing you can do to become a more resourceful leader is to become a more resourceful follower.
I tried to keep both the message and the slides very simple, but I hope you find some value in them. Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
