Student Branding Blog: Are You A Career Commander?

July 19, 2010 by Bret L. Simmons · Filed under: Personal Branding

My most recent post at The Student Branding blog is entitled “Are You A Career Commander?“  It’s a very timely post for me because tonight a begin teaching a new class in Personal Branding to UNR undergraduate and MBA students in our College of Business.

This concept of being a career commander comes from Dan Schawbel’s book ME 2.0, which is a required reading for the class. A career commander is someone that assumes full personal responsibility and accountability for their career.  In my experience, too few people of any age do this, so if YOU will do this you will immediately differentiate yourself from your unremarkable peers.

Mediocrity sucks.

I wanted a sneak preview of what we’ll begin studying tonight in MGT 691, so I Googled it. Guess I have my answer … or at least part of the answer. Looking forward to it.
